Deer Tick = Band of Horses

October 28, 2009 Leave a comment

Deer ticks are gross, but this band is not. They are quite the opposite. They have an album titled “War Elephant” that I am falling in love with. Reminiscent of Band of Horses, Deer Tick is definitely another solid indie-folk band in my books. Really, really good folk music.

There’s actually a documentary about them called Deer Tick: To the City of Sin! coming out in a few weeks. It looks pretty sweet. Watch the trailer here.

As I always say, IFFL!

HEY. I’ve been going a little old school the past couple weeks, adding a ton of Bob Dylan and The Beatles to the library. Listening to them makes me realize just how influential and important they are to modern music, so there’s no doubt that while listening to Bob Dylan, there will be some times when you’ll think that you’re listening to a Bright Eyes song. Crazy stuff.. Crazy GOOD stuff. I love it.
Here’s what’s been added:

  1. The Beatles – Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club
  2. Bob Dylan – Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, Bringing it all Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited
  3. The Bravery – The Sun And The Moon Complete
  4. Damien Jurado – And Now That I’m In Your Shadow, Caught in the Trees, Gathered in Song, Ghost of David, Holding His Breath, On My Way to Absence, Rehearsals for Departure, Waters Ave S., Where Shall You Take Me?
  5. Dave Matthews Band – Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King
  6. Death Cab for Cutie – Meet Me on the Equinox – Single, We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes
  7. Matt Costa – Unfamiliar Faces
  8. Monsters Of Folk – Monsters Of Folk
  9. Old Canes – Early Morning Hymns
  10. Other Lives – Other Lives
  11. Passion Pit – Manners
  12. The Raveonettes – Chain Gang of Love
  13. Sigur Rós – Hvarf – Heim, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust, Takk…, ()
  14. Various Artists – (500) Days of Summer Soundtrack (Music From the Motion Picture)

Favorites so far: You have to check these albums out.

  1. Bob Dylan – Blood on the Tracks
  2. Old Canes – Early Morning Hymns
  3. The Beatles – Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club
